Get Fit! Get Fit! Reimbursement

What is "Get Fit!"?

Get Fit! is a BMC HealthNet Plan "member extra" for our Commonwealth Care members. It encourages you to exercise (Get Fit!) through a reimbursement of up to $50 per calendar year on qualified health club membership (individual or family) or class fees.

Why should I participate?

Along with your $50 reimbursement, you'll get lots of health-related benefits. Research shows that people who exercise regularly enjoy better health and life quality than those who don't. The benefits of regular exercise can include:
  • Relieving stress
  • Improving your mood
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • AND preventing or reducing the effects of many illnesses
How do I get started?

  • Get your doctor's approval before you begin any fitness or exercise program.
  • Then sign up for a health or fitness club membership or class, and start working out.

Does a membership or class at any fitness program or health club qualify?


You must enroll as a member or take a class at a health club that offers both cardiovascular and strength-training exercise or equipment such as:
  • Traditional health and fitness clubs
  • YMCAs or YWCAs
  • Jewish Community Centers
Memberships at or classes taken through martial arts centers, gymnastics facilities, social clubs, tennis or pool-only facilities, country clubs, or sports teams or leagues do not qualify you for your Get Fit! member extra reimbursement.


What do I have to do to get my $50 reimbursement?

You must:
  • have been a member of both your health club and BMC HealthNet Plan Commonwealth Care for at least three months in the same calendar year
  • mail your Fitness Reimbursement Form to the address at the bottom of the form by March 31 of the following year along with:
    • a copy of your health club agreement or contract that includes the name and address of your health club and the dates of your membership or classes; and
    • dated paid receipts, a copy of your bank or credit card statement showing payment to your health club, or a paycheck stub if your club fees are automatically deducted from your paycheck.
      Note: receipts or statements must include your name and the separate charges for three months of health club membership or class fees.
  • make a copy of any documents you send us before you drop them in the mail. BMC HealthNet Plan is not responsible for lost, late or misdirected mail.

When will I get my reimbursement?

You can expect your $50 reimbursement within 6-8 weeks of our receipt of your reimbursement form, copy of your health club membership or class contract, and documentation of payment of class or membership fees.
